More than 200 members of the Black alumni community congregated on the island of Martha’s Vineyard for a series of three reunion-style celebrations this past summer. Most notable was Bruno on the Vineyard, hosted by Jill and Stephen Davis P’23 held on August 14 in Oak Bluffs. At this jubilant celebration of love, learning, and lifelong bonds, the 140+ alumni attendees heard from speakers such as Dr. Sylvia Carey-Butler, Brown’s vice president for institutional equity and diversity. Carey-Butler discussed her vision for how the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity will implement the University's comprehensive strategic plan to create and sustain a diverse and inclusive community at Brown. In addition, Sergio Gonzalez, senior vice president of advancement, shed light on the immense fundraising success of the IPC Brown Annual Fund Scholarship and the Pathways to Diversity and Inclusion Fund.
